I have a legal question. Can I sue the US Air Force?
I am receiving VA Disability, but the problem is the US Air Force made me use solvents that can cause neurological and psychiatric problems, these chemicals are methyl ethyl ketone and benzene. One lawyer I spoke to said I cannot sue because of the Feres V. United States case. I believe that the Air Force needs to educate Airmen on the dangers of MEK cause it is listed in the United Nations Convention Against Illicit and Psychotropic Drugs. I now have schizophrenia with no family history of the disease and a neurotoxicity expert has confirmed that this is because of the MEK and solvents used in aircraft repair. Could I still bring a lawsuit?
This is America, you can sue anyone.

You cannot sue the military. I am very sorry,

You can sue, but you must find a lawyer that will represent you for one dollar, or basically for free. You will receive disability for the rest of your life, and there is little more you could gain in a lawsuit.

You are already receiving disability, that is all you can do.
BTW, no legitimate ‘expert’ can say "your illness was caused by the MEK" The expert can state that the illness COULD have been caused by the use of the solvents, but not that it WAS>

Not successfully.
Additionally, experts can confirm anything they like . . . it doesn’t mean that it is correct. And there is absolutely no scientifically proven correlation between schizophrenia and MEK and/or solvents – so even if you could sue the Air Force, your expert’s opinion would not be adequate proof.
There are a significant number of people with schizophrenia who have no family history of the condition. It has to start somewhere.

No, you may not sue the military. Key word here is "may" though, even if you could sue the military, which is illegal, the chemicals, when handled properly pose no threat to humans. You may sue the manufacturer of these chemicals if there was no warning information on the containers about possible health threats.
