I am concerned with the fumes given off by paint and how dangerous this can be to my newborn.

I here some paints have benzene or some derivative of that chemical and that it causes cancer and more importantly, juvenile luekemia in small children.

Now I have bought the best paint I could find, but where I’m at right now, I’m afraid it sitll has some of that stuff inside. What’s a safe time to let the house air out? What’s a good way to check if it’s safe? How long does paint take to FULLY dry? What are some other precautions I can take to insure that my son won’t be poisoned?

He’s still really tiny, only 50 days old. Please share your thoughts and advice.
We’re moving into a new house that will be fully painted.

I wanted to know if we air the place out for like 2-3 weeks will it be safe if you think the paint they used may still contain poisonous benzene?

Close the venmts and the AC and move your baby to an area of the house that is not being painted, or better still, somewhere else. Then wait 5 hours to allow the paint to dry. Make sure the are ais ventilated and open all the windows.

Thing is, I can tell if I was in the USA right now, but I’m in China and although I bought the "best paint" in the house, I am told that it’s benzene-free, to be honest, I’m just not sure I believe them!

I certainly don’t want to poison my infant son!

Is there a period of time that is considered "safe?"

If I keep large industrial fans going 24/7 blowing out of the windows be effective?

I’m moving into a new place that being painted.

1-Ventilation will be key. Keep air moving and windows/doors open as much as possible
2-Run air purifiers during the entire process
3-Keep humidity levels down by running dehumidifiers and heat or a/c
4-Remember it can take 30 days or more for vinyls and acrylics to cure and months for oil paints. The outgassing will continue until all solvents are completely evaporated into the air. You will need to keep vigilant with making sure there is proper ventilation and low humidity for a while to minimize the effects of the VOC’s being released.
